Three-Week Refresher Course in Commerce & Business Management” concluded at GNDU
Amritsar, December 26: A “Three-Week Refresher Course in Commerce & Business Management” concluded here today at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 31 University and College teachers pertaining to the discipline of Commerce & Business Management not only from Punjab but also from other states of the country participated in it.
Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean, College Development Council and Honorary Director, ICSSR, North Western Regional Centre (NWRC), Chandigarh Panjab University, Chandigarh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Kaushik in his valedictory address shed light on the role of such Programmes, which go a long way in augmenting, refreshing, enhancing their expertise through interactions with the renowned resource persons.
Talking about the challenges being faced by the teaching fraternity in the present world, he exhorted them to rise to the occasion and to make their students globally competitive. An exodus of students to the foreign universities must be a cause of grave concern for all the stakeholders, particularly, for the teaching fraternity, he underlined. The increasing gap between the requirements of the corporate sector and the curricula being followed in the institutes of higher education needs to be plugged, he continued. Exhorting the teachers at large to inculcate inquisitive, analytical, critical skills in the students’ community, he said that these are the fundamental skills required for making the students globally competitive in all the domains.
Dr. Jasveen Kaur, Head, University Business School and the Coordinator of the Course summarized the contents of the Course. She counselled the participants to incorporate the advanced pedagogical skills learnt during this Course in their classroom teaching. This is the sole way of achieving the aims and objectives of such Courses, with which, they were envisaged in the beginning.
Earlier the Chief Guest was accorded welcome by presenting a sapling by Dr. Mohan Kumar and Dr. Jasveen Kaur. In the end certificates were given away to the successful participants. Dr. Jasveen Kaur proposed the vote of thanks.
