Sikh Temple Organize Open House to Educate Fellow American about Sikh values
As we all know Sikh Community has gone thru series of hate crimes after 9-11 attack because of ignorance and lack of knowledge. Sikhs usually have Turbans known as “Dastaar” and its their article of faith and part of their dress code. Sikh are from Punjab which was independent country at one point but now occupied by India. Sikh population is Connecticut is about 500 families with 5 places of worship with two of them in Windsor and others in Hamden,Norwalk and Southington. Swaranjit Singh Khalsa who is approved presenter of Department of Justice and recently got awarded by James Comey arranged this event in Coordination with Connecticut State Judicial branch.
Khalsa said “Today I am glad that More than 50 state employees attended this event and we are not just giving presentation and Tour of Gurudwara but we also have arrangement for Turban Tying and Langar. Langar is community kitchen and in all Gurudwaras Vegetarian meal is served as part of their faith values. Khalsa said “Langar represent equality as we all sit together and enjoy food together”. On this occasion Head priest Of Gurudwara Komal Singh lead everyone in service.
Manmohan Singh Bharara shared the tenants of Sikhism and how Guru Nanak the Founder Of Religion revolutionary ideas effected the community in 15 century. Maninder Singh arora,Kuljit Singh and Guruninder Singh Dhaliwal served Langar to everyone and answers questions fellow Americans had.
Congregation also honored Zarin Kapur from Judicial branch with historical picture of Darbar sahib which is also known as Golden Temple. Swaranjit Singh Khalsa said “Next month in November We are commentating 33rd anniversary of Sikh Genocide 1984 and we just pray to god that he prevails peace in this world”.
