MoU between Guru Nanak Dev University and Hotel Radisson Blu
Amritsar, August 3: Guru Nanak Dev University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Radisson Blu hotel and Park Inn by Radisson (Blessings group) to provide its students with an insight into the professional internship and job placement opportunities across the group’s properties in India.
While speaking on this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr). Jaspal Singh Sandhu said, “University is proud to collaborate with Radisson Blu in providing quality hospitality and tourism education for the hotel industry. As the Punjab hotel industry embarks on its productivity and capability enhancement initiatives, this collaboration will provide opportunities for everyone to learn from one of the most innovative university in the region. He said that this fits in nicely with university’s mantra to develop talents with deep skills and knowledge of the trade. He said that with this MoU university has taken another step ahead in its Endeavour to support the industry with new and innovative programmes.”
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Rajan Gill, Managing Director said that, “Blessing group is grateful to GNDU for their faith in expertise in hospitality training and management. We are proud that we have been the biggest force to drive tourism in India and have always contributed to nation building and progressive development of the industry. We believe in nurturing great talent and recognise that gaining experience in an organization not only provides students with insight into their chosen field but can also give them a competitive edge when applying for jobs. We are also pleased to offer permanent employment to the students after their graduation”. Sh. Rajan Gill also appreciated the efforts of University-Industry Linkage Cell of the varsity for its efforts to strengthen the ties between the Hotel industries and the University.
Commenting on the partnership with Blessing group, Dean Prof. S.S. Behl said, “We see this as an innovative national collaboration. Together, we’ll make greater contributions to the development of the industry in the years ahead.” Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Coordinator University-Industry Linkage Programme of the University informed that both parties agreed to develop synergetic collaboration in a resource sharing and knowledge sharing environment in the field of Hotel Management. Beside this, parties agreed to develop academic programmes and share expertise in training/internships for students in various fields of Hotel Management, arrange guest lecturers from the renowned officials from blessing group and other activities through a joint organization of events.
Sh. Rajan Gill informed that his group will provide stipends for internships and also provides scholarships to underprivileged students. On the occasion, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Kamaljeet Singh, Prof. Renu Bhardwaj, Dr. Jasveen Kaur and other senior officials from both sides were also present.
