Kabbadi Competion in Virginia

WASHINGTOND.C., November 3 (Raj Gogna) Yesterday’s  Chardi Kala Sports Club (CKSC) hosted the first ever international kabaddi cup in the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area at the Sikh Center of Virginia (8015 Buckhall Road, Manassas VA 20111) on Saturday October 21, 2017. CKSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit composed of completely youth members under the age of 25 and all of the organization’s events are sewa-based. The kabaddi tournament was the main attraction of the larger event, which was a full Punjabi Mela including games for kids, food and refreshments, and shopping opportunities. World-renowned play-by-play announcers provided tremendous commentary throughout the event. The Club’s mela was all inclusive as the group requested that all members of the family attend and provided special seating for women and children.

CKSC’s home team won first place and took home $4,000: Chardi Kala’s home team representing the DMV emerged victorious. The group led by raiders Dulla and Banna dominated the opposition, as the team earned $4,000 for winning first place. Daljinder Singh, Daljit Singh, Manveer Singh, MP Singh, Gursewak Singh, Gurman Singhand Mohna Singh were also huge contributors to CKSC’s success. Sacramento’s team obtained second place and won $3,000 for doing so. Finally, Toronto and Yuba City won third and fourth place respectively, earning themselves a sum of $1,500 each.Bajwa Transport, Malwa Transport, and Punj Tara Indian Cuisine led a large group of sponsors

The first place prize was sponsored by S. Kamal Singh Bajwa. In addition to the $4,000 of prize money, he provided CKSC with tractors and other equipment to create the kabaddi field. S. Gurwinder Pannu, S. Gurbinder Bal, and their firm Malwa Transport sponsored the second place prize money of $3,000. Punj Tara Indian Cuisine was the third place sponsor. In addition to providing the $1,500 of prize money, S. Mehtab Singh Kahlon and S. Gursharan Singh provided mentorship and advice for the youth throughout the planning of this event. Manrajbir Singh Kang and Sartaj Singh Randhawa collaborated to provide $1,500 for fourth place. Other sponsors included TV84, Triple Star Party Rentals, Global Travels, Pind Othian, Manjeet Singh CPA, Seven Eleven, Little Caesar’s, KK Sidhu’s Dunkin’ Donuts, Jus Punjabi, My World Web TV, Sandhu Brothers (MD), KK & SS Inc, KPS Tax Services Inc., Eagle Carriers Inc., Subway Maryland Group, Raman Homes, Rubb Transport, Vallah Transport, Ajit Sahi BMW Automotive, Candy Photos, Signs For You, Sukhjinder Sidhu, DJ Lucky, Rhythm Entertainment, Teddi Pagg Productions Alpha Transport, GKS Towing, DGP Transport, XLI Centreville Virginia, Punjab Times, MS Construction and Management, and many others.
