Guru Nanak Dev University ranked 59th in India
Amritsar, April 04: Guru Nanak Dev University has received 59th rank in 2018 grading in the category of Universities released under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. This was informed by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu while addressing the media personnel here today in the Syndicate Room of the Guru Nanak Dev University. A large number of representatives from electronic and print media were present.
Professor Jaspal Singh said that we have improved our last year ranking from 89 to 59. Now we will work hard to improve our ranking to make this University best not only in India but at the international level too. He said that under the NIRF system, the Colleges, Universities & Educational Institutes are judged and ranked on parameters broadly including teaching, research, professional practices, graduation outcomes, perception among others. He said that grading was broadly based on the data furnished by the University and public perception. Under this ranking system the competition was among 4000 plus Universities & Colleges. We are among the top 100 Universities of the country.
With the efforts of all faculty members and Vice Chancellor’s hard work University’s ranking has moved 21 steps upward. Among State funded Universities in India, Guru Nanak Dev University is ranked 16th.
He said that we are not satisfied with the rank of 59, now we will work hard to further raised the ranking of the University. He also thanked Hon’ble Chief Minister, Capt. Amrinder Singh for santioning a grant of Rs. 25 crore to the University. He said that this grant will be used for strenthening the infrastructure for the benefit of students. He said that 24 new need based courses will started in the coming academic year. He further said that two new courses of Journalism & Mass Communication and Agriculture will also be started from next academic session at the University Campus.
