GNDU to start new courses

Syndicate Meeting of Guru Nanak Dev University

Amritsar, February 07, 2017 (Nirpakh Awaaz) – The Syndicate meetings of the Guru Nanak Dev University was held here today in the Syndicate Room of the University.  Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor presided over the meeting while Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar presented the agenda. Starting of new courses, increasing of finiancial resources, approval to Ph.D. thesis and other administrative and academic matters were the main agenda of the meetings. A large number of syndicate members were present.

          Guru Nanak Dev University would start new courses such as Master in Archtitecture (Sustainable built Enviornment); B.Sc. (Hons) Botany; M.Tech (Environment Science and Technology); M.Sc. Applied Chemistry (Parmaceuticals); B.Tech. (Computer Engg.) M.Tech. (Computer Science); Certificate course & Diploma Course in Early Child Care and Education; Diploma in Course in Special Course in Special Education; B.Tech. (Computer & Communication Engineering); M.Phil. (English); PGD in Food Safty and Quality Assurance in Food Industry; PGD in Hindi Patarkarita; PGD Course in Heritage Tourism of North West India; Certficate Course in Applied Medical Genetics; Certificate Course in Applied Human Genetics; B.Sc. (Hons) Maths; B.Sc. Medical Lab. Technology; B.A. (Hons) in Performing Arts; Master of Pharmacy Regulatory Affairs; Post M.Sc. Diploma in Radiological Physics; PGD in Banking Issurance and Finance; Certificate Coure in Punjabi Translation; MBA (Human Resource Development); M.Sc. (Hons.) Zoology (FYIC) from academic session 2018-19  at its Campus. Similarly new vocational courses will also start at University Regional Campses and Constituent & University Colleges from this academic session keeping in view the demand of region.

          In addition to this, the new courses in M.Sc. (Sports Nutrition); M.Sc. (Sports Biochemistry); M.Sc. (Sports Physiology) and M.A. (Sports Psychology) and Certificate course in Sports Anthropometry in the new open Department of MYAS GNDU Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine from this session. The Master in Hospital Administration (MHA) may be reintroduced from the academic session.

          In the meeting it was also decided that the students of B.Tech. Civil & Mechenical Engineering Courses being run at University Regional Campus Sathiala will also be shifted at University Main Campus. University will also start new course in B.A. (Hons) Journalism and Mass Communication Course from this acadmic session at University Regional Campus Jalandhar.

          In an other decision, Syndicate also approved a special chance to candidates who have missed one paper due to accident; sickness and miss happening during examination. With in ten days of examinations from the date of paper alongwith proofs, the special chance will be given to students with the fee of Rs. 5000/- including examination fee. Similarly, with in one month from the date of paper alongwith proofs, the spceial chance will be provided with fee of Rs. 10000/- including examination fee.

          In the meeting, the approval to panel of lawyers prepared by the UGC to contest cases in Supreme Court along with the fee to be paid for contesting these court cases for the University has been given. The Department of Architecture and Department of Biotechnology of the University made their presentation to discuss their future plans, developments and innovative ideas in the syndicate meeting. University has fixed the the rates and mode of payment sample analysis through the instrumental techniques available in the Emerging Life Sciences Department of the University was also approved.

          The Syndicate also accorded its approval to twenty Ph.D. thesis and MoUs signed recently with the various institutions and companies for benefit of University.  Decision to strengthen alumni association and to increase increase finiancial resources of the University were alse taken in the meeting.
