WHAT IS OBESITY?

Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat accumulates to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on the health of a person. It is a life-long progressive, life-threatening disease which can significantly reduce life expectancy.

When the weight of a person reaches extreme levels, it is called MORBID OBESITY which is responsible for developing numerous medical, psychological and social consequences.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a useful general guideline and is a good estimator of body fat for most adults between 19 and 70 years of age. It is used to define the type of obesity.

Lifestyle changes

The goal of obesity treatment is to reach and stay at a healthy weight. You may need to work with a team of health professionals — including an obesity surgeon, a physician, a dietitian and a physiotherapist — to help you understand and make changes in your eating and activity habits.

Diet Counseling

Each diet plan is customized by keeping your lifestyle in mind, according to your weight/height, co-morbidities, metabolism and body composition.

Daily activity:

Our qualified physiotherapists collaborate with you to understand your level of physical activity as per your lifestyle and customize a basic, easy to follow and holistic exercise plan to help you get safely and effectively to your target weight.

Bariatric Surgery/ Weight Loss Surgery

Bariatric surgery is the next step for people who are severely obese after trying approaches other than surgery, especially if they have a disease linked to obesity. Food intake is restricted with the help of bariatric surgery and that leads to weight loss. Patients should follow healthy eating and regular exercise in order to maintain weight after surgery.
