Punjab bags 6 medals in Rowing Championship


Chandigarh, June 16: The Punjab Rowing Team, representing Punjab Amateur Rowing Association (PARA), participated in the 19th Sub Junior and 1st Inter-State National Rowing Championships from 7th to12th June 2016. The championship was held at  Sri Ramachandara Medical College (SWSC) Water Sports Centre, Sri Ramachandara Medical University, Porur, Chennai. The Championship was organized by Tamil Nadu Rowing Association (TARA) under the aegis of the Rowing Federation of India (RFI).

Disclosing this, an official spokesman said that the team bagged 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medal in the championship with Karamchand bagging Bronze medal in Sub Junior Boys (Single Scull) and

Karamchand and Arvinder Singh winning Silver medal in Sub Junior Boys (Double Scull) category. In Coxless Pair Sub Junior Boys category, Shahwinder Singh and Akashdeep Singh bagged Gold. In Coxless pair Challenger Women category, Gagandeep Kaur and Kawaljeet Kaur bagged Bronze medal while Arvinder Singh bagged Bronze medal in Challenger Men (Single Scull). In Coxless Four Challenger Men category Satnam Singh, Sharanpreet Singh, Des Raj and Harshdeep Singh won Bronze medal.

The Punjab Team Coach was Mr. Tajinder Singh and the Manager was Mr. Vipan Kamboj.
