Terror threat at Pathankot Airforce Station; Punjab Police conducted operation in 30 villages around the Airbase

Following information about presence of terrorists in Pathankot area and who could attack the Pathankot Airbase again, the Punjab police conducted a comprehensive search operation around the Air Force Station for over five hours. The police however, did not find any lead about the presence of the terrorists.
The Police on Wednesday had launched a massive search operation in about 30 villages around the Airbase after Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs had said that the terrorist had still taken hide in Pathankot and can attack again.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Pathankot, while interacting with media persons claimed that over 300 cops including women in different teams were deployed to conduct the operation that did not find any suspect or terrorist.
He also claimed to have conducted a search in the deras of gujjars and other nomads camping in the vicinity of the airbase and villages in the bordering belt of the district. The SSP said that more police force will be deployed in the strategic and sensitive points in the district to avoid any untoward incident.
On Tuesday, P Bhattacharya, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, had informed the government of another terror attack claiming that some terrorists were still hiding in Pathankot.
