Shocking: Udta Punjab movie leaked online?
Mumbai: ‘Udta Punjab’, which was locked in a bitter battle with the censor board, has reportedly leaked online just two days before its release. Approximately 40 minutes of the movie footage is available online with for censor written on the top left corner, according to websites. There are reports that the entire movie, which has a running time of 2 hours 20 minutes, is doing the rounds on movie downloading sites.
However, when contacted a source from the film’s team said they have managed to remove the leaked links. With major chunks of the film now available online, it is suspected if it is an attempt to sabotage it. But this is not the first time that Anurag Kashyap’s movie has been leaked. Earlier, clips of his short film featuring Radhika Apte was also leaked.
The film’s co-producer Anurag Kashyap was at the forefront of the fight against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which had asked for multiple cuts in the drug-themed drama, directed by Abhishek Chaubey.
The producers had moved the Bombay High Court against the board’s decision. The court cleared the film for release with just one cut and a revised disclaimer. Though the decision by the court has come as a big relief for the makers as they can now release the film with only one cut and a revised disclaimer but it seems like the trouble isn’t over yet. Just two days before of the release, an NGO has appealed Supreme Court questioning the Bombay High Court verdict. ‘Udta Punjab’ stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh that releases this on June 17th, 2016.
Meanewhile, Shahid Kapoor shares the copy of the censor certificate on Twitter that was issued to the makers on June 15.
